About Us
OUR STORY
“Mom would frequently move around
with a basket of pictures."
The Cognitive Busy Box and The Cognitive Busy Blanket were conceived based on an experience that Amanda had with her mom, reflecting an opportunity to enhance connection as she struggled with dementia.

She would sit down and look through the photographs. It didn't take long to realize that we could make a connection with her by talking about the pictures. I didn't know it at the time, but we were helping her with Reminiscence Therapy.

I later left a corporate job in oil and gas to enter the field of Senior Living. As I listened to families struggling with how to engage their loved ones living with dementia, it occurred to me that we needed to create tools for families and their loved ones to better connect, and to reduce anxiety and boredom. The Cognitive Busy Box and Blanket were born. The products were established with evidence-backed science to serve the needs of caregivers, their loved ones and patients in long-term memory care. Overall, I've spent 20 years in Senior Living, including 7 years as Executive Director at a Houston area community with one of the largest, most respected names in the field.
Today, Memory Care Connection is established to serve as a trusted partner in Dementia Care, providing not only the products with expert guidance, but also as an educational resource curating the latest scientific information that is helpful and relevant to caregivers.
Other resources include a Facebook community for sharing and connection among caregivers. In addition, we provide a free referral service to assist caregivers, when the time comes for transition to professional long-term memory care, called Help For My Parents.
As we continue to grow, our experience and expertise is being sought out for educational sessions at conferences, corporate, podcasts and media for expert insights. In all, our mission remains the same; to provide positive impact to Dementia Care and elevate the quality of life for caregivers and those they serve.

Help For My Parents –
A Place to Call HOME:
A Workbook Guide to Senior Living!

After more than 20 years working in senior living—and walking this journey with my own family—I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to find the right community for someone you love. There are so many options, so many questions, and the stakes feel incredibly high.
That's why I created this workbook: to give you a clear, practical roadmap through the decision-making process. Inside, you'll find the checklists, comparison tools, and essential questions I wish I'd had when I started this search.
Whether you're exploring independent living, assisted living, or memory care, this guide will help you make a confident choice the first time—so your loved one can live each day with the dignity, comfort, and peace of mind they deserve. I wrote this for families like yours, and I hope it brings you clarity during what can feel like an uncertain time.
